01 February 2025 Meeting of the Supreme Committee for Guidelines for the General Surgery Specialty

Prof. Mohamed Mustafa Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council, met with the Supreme Committee for Guidelines for Human Medicine, Specialization in General Surgery, to discuss the work plan and draw a road map for developing guidelines for General Surgery, and Professor  Abdel Moaty Hussein Ali Mohamed was chosen as Chairman of the Committee.

The committee is composed of:

  • Prof. Abdel Moati Hussein Ali Mohamed - Emeritus Professor of Surgery, Cairo University
  • Dr. Mahmoud Mohsen Mahmoud Muqshat - Lecturer of Surgery, National Liver Institute, Menoufia University, Committee Rapporteur
  • Prof. Abdel Wahab Mohamed Ezzat Abdel Wahab - Professor of Surgery and former President of Ain Shams University
  • Prof. Ahmed Farag Ahmed Al-Qased - Professor of General Surgery and President of Menoufia University
  • Prof. Khaled Safwat Al-Sayed Fahmy - Professor of Oncology and Endoscopic Surgery, Zagazig University, Head of the Eastern Physicians Syndicate
  • Prof. Khaled Abdullah Al-Feki - Professor and Head of the Department of General Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University
  • Prof. Atef Abdel-Ghani Youssef Salem - Professor and Head of the Department of General Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Benha University

The Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Health Council held an expanded meeting on 28, April, 2026, in honor of His Excellency Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Ahmed Kojak, Minister of Finance, and Prof. Hani Otaiba, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in England. Also present were Sir. Magdy Yacoub, the international heart surgeon, and Prof. Hisham Ali Sadiq, Professor of Heart, Biophysics and Molecular Biology. At the University of Arizona in America, via video, in France, Major General Saeed Al-Najjar, Assistant Minister of the Interior for the Medical Services Sector, and Major General Dr. Nabil Fekry, Undersecretary of the Medical Services Sector at the Ministry of Interior.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Mr. Hassan Raddad, Minister of Labor, and prof. Mohamed Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council, witnessed the signing of a tripartite cooperation protocol aimed at enhancing institutional integration and achieving the maximum benefit from the available capabilities in providing health services and developing the vocational training system in Egypt in order to enhance health care and develop vocational training.
