28 January 2026 License Renewal for Medical Practitioners

Requirements and Accredited Entities
In the context of regulating and renewing professional practice licenses, the Egyptian Health Council (EHC) outlines the approved requirements for renewing medical practice licenses for doctors. 
These requirements are to be fulfilled through the licensing authorities as follows:

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Points:
•    Mandatory Credits: For medical doctors who passed the practice exam in 2021 and are due for renewal in 2026, a total of 100 accredited CPD points must be earned. 
(50 points per year, effective from the date the Executive Regulations of the Egyptian Health Council were issued on October 4, 2023.)
•    Postgraduate Studies: During enrollment in Master’s, MD/PhD, or Fellowship programs, 50 accredited points are granted per academic year, based on a letter of attendance from the awarding institution.
 General Requirements (For all Doctors):
•    BLS Certificate: A valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate from an entity accredited by the Egyptian Health Council.
•    GAHAR Course: A certificate of completion for the training course on "Quality and Accreditation of Health Institutions" from the General Authority for Health Care Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR).
•    Self-Development Plan: Completion of the Personal Development Plan (PDP) form prepared by the EHC. This form outlines the doctor’s professional growth plan; some applicants may be required to discuss their plan with a specialized committee if necessary.

Accredited Training Centers:

To ensure the advancement of the CPD system, the Egyptian Health Council has accredited BLS and ACLS courses at the following entities:
•    Central Administration for Critical and Urgent Care (Cairo): BLS.
•    Evangelical Hospital (Health Insurance Organization - Cairo): BLS, ACLS.
•    Delta Academy (Mansoura): BLS.
•    Military Medical Academy (Cairo): BLS.
•    Police Hospitals (Agouza – New Cairo – Alexandria): BLS, ACLS.
•    Al-Azhar Faculty of Medicine for Girls (Cairo): BLS, ACLS.
The Egyptian Health Council reaffirms its commitment to supporting continuous professional development and enhancing the efficiency of medical cadres, thereby positively impacting the quality of healthcare services provided.

The Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Health Council held an expanded meeting on 28, April, 2026, in honor of His Excellency Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Ahmed Kojak, Minister of Finance, and Prof. Hani Otaiba, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in England. Also present were Sir. Magdy Yacoub, the international heart surgeon, and Prof. Hisham Ali Sadiq, Professor of Heart, Biophysics and Molecular Biology. At the University of Arizona in America, via video, in France, Major General Saeed Al-Najjar, Assistant Minister of the Interior for the Medical Services Sector, and Major General Dr. Nabil Fekry, Undersecretary of the Medical Services Sector at the Ministry of Interior.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Mr. Hassan Raddad, Minister of Labor, and prof. Mohamed Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council, witnessed the signing of a tripartite cooperation protocol aimed at enhancing institutional integration and achieving the maximum benefit from the available capabilities in providing health services and developing the vocational training system in Egypt in order to enhance health care and develop vocational training.
