29 April 2024 Workshop (private sector participation in health care and the comprehensive health insurance system)

Prof. Mohamed Lotayef Executive president, Egyptian Health Council, participated in a workshop entitled (Private sector participation in health care and the comprehensive health insurance system), in cooperation with the World Health Organization.
His Excellency introduced the attendees to the Egyptian Health Council Law, and presented the formation of the Board of Directors and the members of the Board of Directors. His Excellency also explained that the main goal of establishing the Council is to organize the fields of health in Egypt in the areas of : (post-university vocational education, specialized training, qualification and level development (scientific and clinical for doctors and workers in various health fields), and His Excellency also clarified that the Council does not only address the medical sector; Rather, he began working with health specialties in the Arab Republic of Egypt (human medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy, nursing, and veterinary medicine). His Excellency also presented all the activities carried out by the Egyptian Health Council, starting with the national exam for practicing health professions, as well as the The Egyptian Board, where the Council grants an accredited certificate called the “Egyptian Board” to all graduates of health sector colleges after passing the training program, the standardized test for each of the health specializations subject to the provisions of this law, continuous professional development (CPD), and the accreditation of scientific, vocational training, and higher health specialty programs for the post-university education stage. And approving professional certificates for those who pass these programs in the various branches of medical health work from the relevant training bodies accredited by the Council - creating records for workers in the public and private health sectors - creating national records for diseases and medical interventions - guidelines - standards for applying professional ethical charters.
His Excellency responded to all the questions directed to His Excellency during the session.

The Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Health Council held an expanded meeting on 28, April, 2026, in honor of His Excellency Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Ahmed Kojak, Minister of Finance, and Prof. Hani Otaiba, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in England. Also present were Sir. Magdy Yacoub, the international heart surgeon, and Prof. Hisham Ali Sadiq, Professor of Heart, Biophysics and Molecular Biology. At the University of Arizona in America, via video, in France, Major General Saeed Al-Najjar, Assistant Minister of the Interior for the Medical Services Sector, and Major General Dr. Nabil Fekry, Undersecretary of the Medical Services Sector at the Ministry of Interior.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Mr. Hassan Raddad, Minister of Labor, and prof. Mohamed Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council, witnessed the signing of a tripartite cooperation protocol aimed at enhancing institutional integration and achieving the maximum benefit from the available capabilities in providing health services and developing the vocational training system in Egypt in order to enhance health care and develop vocational training.
