28 July 2024 Celebration of the Egyptian Health Council for the launch of the Egyptian guidelines

The Egyptian Health Council celebrated the launch of 30 guidelines in 10 different medical specialties. The celebration was opened by prof. Mohamed Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council. His Excellency extended his thanks and appreciation to Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, in view of his efforts and effective contributions in issuing the Egyptian Health Council Law No. 12 of 2022, stressing that all Egyptian state entities work as one system to develop the environment and healthy living in Egypt.
His Excellency also thanked Prof. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, Dr. Hanan Al-Balkhi, Regional Director of the World Health Organization, Dr. Nima Abdel, Representative of the World Health Organization in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the workers at the headquarters of the World Health Organization in Cairo.
He explained that the guidelines are the first national guidelines to be launched in Egypt that guarantee the Egyptian citizen treatment using the correct scientific methods. They were developed by a group of experts, whether university professors or consultants who hold a doctorate or its equivalent. They are placed electronically to facilitate access to them from anywhere in Egypt. They also include: That treatment is provided to patients through unified protocols, thus having a role in reducing unjustified variation in medical practices between various medical institutions, and reaching consensus in medical practices and procedures to ensure the provision of high-quality health services, noting that in light of limited resources.
The guidelines provide guidance for using available health resources efficiently and effectively, help rationalize health spending, spread health awareness among citizens, and enable them to make informed decisions about their health care. The patient who started his treatment in Cairo can also complete treatment in any other governorate in the Republic.

The Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Health Council held an expanded meeting on 28, April, 2026, in honor of His Excellency Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Ahmed Kojak, Minister of Finance, and Prof. Hani Otaiba, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in England. Also present were Sir. Magdy Yacoub, the international heart surgeon, and Prof. Hisham Ali Sadiq, Professor of Heart, Biophysics and Molecular Biology. At the University of Arizona in America, via video, in France, Major General Saeed Al-Najjar, Assistant Minister of the Interior for the Medical Services Sector, and Major General Dr. Nabil Fekry, Undersecretary of the Medical Services Sector at the Ministry of Interior.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, Mr. Hassan Raddad, Minister of Labor, and prof. Mohamed Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council, witnessed the signing of a tripartite cooperation protocol aimed at enhancing institutional integration and achieving the maximum benefit from the available capabilities in providing health services and developing the vocational training system in Egypt in order to enhance health care and develop vocational training.
