Prof. Mohamed Lotayef, President of the Egyptian Health Council, announces the launch of guidelines for veterinary interventions

The Egyptian Health Council, headed by Prof. Mohamed Lotayef, announced the launch of guidelines for veterinary medicine, which is a pivotal step in the process of developing professional practice in the veterinary medicine sector in line with international standards

His Excellency pointed to the importance of animal health and its vital role in supporting public health, ensuring food safety and protecting livestock. Prof. Mohamed Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council, added that veterinary medicine is not just a medical specialty, but one of the main pillars of health and economic security, as it directly contributes to enhancing animal production and public health, and limiting the spread of common animal diseases that may affect human health.

Since its establishment, the Egyptian Health Council has been keen to enhance the quality of health services provided to the community, and it was natural that this interest included the veterinary sector, given its direct impact on human and animal health. Therefore, the launch of these guidelines comes in the context of the Council’s efforts to develop the professional competencies of veterinarians, provide continuous training programs, and organize practice exams.

Prof. Mohamed Lotayef, The Executive president of the Egyptian Health Council, explained that the accession of veterinary medicine to the Egyptian Health Council represents a qualitative leap in this sector, as it opens the way for achieving more professional recognition, applying modern systems for licensing the practice of the profession, in addition to promoting scientific research and continuous professional development, which reflects positively on the level of veterinary services, and achieves integration between different health specialties.

The launch of these guidelines comes as a result of intensive efforts and fruitful cooperation between experts and specialists, as we were keen to include the latest scientific standards and recommendations that keep pace with developments in this field, in order to achieve the best diagnostic and therapeutic practices and enhance the role of the veterinarian in community service. It also represents a step towards standardization and ensuring the quality of veterinary services provided, contributing to building a more sustainable and efficient health sector.

Prof. Mohamed Lotayef, President of the Egyptian Health Council, concluded that the launch of these guidelines is not just a regulatory measure, but rather a future vision to develop the profession and enhance its role in community service, and stressed the commitment of the Egyptian Health Council to continue supporting and developing the veterinary field.
